چکیده

The concentration of free amino acids in amniotic fluids, obtained from 27 normal mothers between the eighth and 22nd weeks of gestation, was determined by cation-exchange chromatography. Of the 29free amino acids detected, three-7-aminobutyric acid, ethanolamine, and homocarnosinehad not previously been found in amniotic fluid. The seven most common (in descending order) are alanine, glutamic acid-glutamine, lysine, proline, threonine, glycine, and valine. These seven comprise 70% of the total free amino acids present. All of the amino acids found in amniotic fluid have been found in serum and urine from fetuses and newborns and in the mother’s urine. However, three of the amino acids found in amniotic fluid-ethanolamine, hydroxyproline, and homocarnosine-have not been reported to be present in serum from mothers.

Maternal and fetal levels of methionine and homocysteine in early human pregnancy.

OBJECTIVE To investigate methionine metabolism during normal human embryonic development by measuring levels of methionine and total homocysteine in samples of maternal serum, extra-embryonic coelomic fluid, and amniotic fluid. DESIGN Cross-sectional observational study. SETTING Collaboration between St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and the University Hospital of Nijmegen in The Netherlan...

Biochemical evaluation of amniotic fluid during different stages of gestation in the goat

To study changes in concentrations of some biochemical factors of amniotic fluid, 115 normal goat uteri at different stages of pregnancy were collected from slaughterhouse. After expelling of each fetus accompanied by fetal membranes, 10 ml amniotic fluid was taken from amniotic sac for biochemical analysis. Then approximate ages of fetuses were calculated by using age estimation formula. At fi...

Bile acid metabolism in early life: studies of amniotic fluid.

Bile acid metabolism of the human fetus was examined in early gestation (weeks 13-19) and compared with the full-term fetus from the analysis of amniotic fluid collected from healthy pregnant women. Total individual bile acids were determined by gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry after solvolysis and hydrolysis of bile acid conjugates. Additionally, bile acids were separated according ...

Elevated amniotic fluid amino acid levels in fetuses with gastroschisis.

Our objective was to measure maternal plasma and amniotic fluid amino acid concentrations in pregnant women diagnosed as having fetuses with gastroschisis in the second trimester of pregnancy. Twenty-one pregnant women who had fetuses with gastroschisis detected by ultrasonography (gastroschisis group) in the second trimester and 32 women who had abnormal triple screenings indicating an increas...

Metabolomics of Human Amniotic Fluid and Maternal Plasma during Normal Pregnancy

Metabolic profiles of amniotic fluid and maternal blood are sources of valuable information about fetus development and can be potentially useful in diagnosis of pregnancy disorders. In this study, we applied 1H NMR-based metabolic profiling to track metabolic changes occurring in amniotic fluid (AF) and plasma (PL) of healthy mothers over the course of pregnancy. AF and PL samples were collect...
